SpaceX (SPCX) Market Cap
$1,76bln as of 12 augustus 2026 — spread across two share classes with very different voting rights.
Why "price × shares outstanding" gives you the wrong number
Most financial data providers, Alpha Vantage included, report a single "shares outstanding" figure that only counts Class A — the class that actually trades as SPCX. Multiply that by the share price and you get roughly $1,03bln, well short of the real $1,76bln market cap. The gap is Class B: 5,49mld shares, held by insiders, that don't trade publicly but are still real equity and are counted in SpaceX's actual market capitalization.
Shares outstanding, by class
| Class | Shares | Votes per share | Share of total votes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Class A (public, SPCX) | 7,70mld | 1 | 12,3% |
| Class B (insider-held) | 5,49mld | 10 | 87,7% |
| Total | 13,18mld | — | 100% |
Why the split matters
Class A shares carry 1 vote each; Class B shares carry 10. Class B is a minority of total shares outstanding but controls the majority of votes — see our investors page for what that means for anyone buying Class A stock on the open market.
Market cap vs. the last private valuation
Before its IPO, SpaceX's most-cited valuation came from private tender offers — the last one, in December 2025, priced it at $800B. That was a single negotiated round price, not a market value. Its real, exchange-set market cap today is more than double that. See our valuation page for the full pre- and post-IPO trajectory.
